Ms. Yashodhara Dalmia (Art Historian)

Ms. Dalmia is an art historian and an independent curator. She has written extensively on Indian art and culture. Her book ‘Amrita Sher-Gil: A Life’, a comprehensive account of the life of the legendary artist, was published in 2006 and received wide spread acclaim. It was short listed for the Hutch Crossword non-fiction award in February 2007. Ms. Dalmia has co-authored a book on Indian and Pakistani art titled ‘Memory, Metaphor, Mutations, Contemporary Art of India and Pakistan’ (from Oxford University Press) released in 2007. She has also published several articles and opinion pieces on international art and artists.

Ms. Varsha Das (Art Critic)

Ms. Das has served as the Director of National Gandhi Museum, New Delhi and played a significant role in preserving and displaying Gandhiji's records consisting of his letters, correspondence, books, cine-films, manuscripts, photographs, voice records, personal effects and mementos. One of her foremost endeavors is her contribution to promote and preserve various places associated with Gandhiji's life and his works placed in the museums and with the art fraternity. As an art critic, Ms. Das strives to provide Indian art and culture its due recognition in the global arena.

Mr. Ranjit Hoskote (Art Curator, Critic & Poet)

Mr. Hoskote is a contemporary Indian poet, art critic, independent curator, and cultural theorist.  He is currently the assistant editor of one of India’s most respected newspapers, The Hindu. He has three collections of poetry to his credit and his poems and essays have been published in several Indian and International journals. Mr. Hoskote was awarded the Sanskriti Award for Literature in 1996 and won the British Council/Poetry Society of India Annual Competition in 1997. In 2004, the National Academy of Letters honored him with the Sahitya Akademi Golden Jubilee Award. Mr. Hoskote is a contemporary art critic of some renown, with a passion for exploring the relationship between aesthetics and politics.

Ms. Geeta Kapur (Writer, Art Critic and Curator)

Ms. Kapur is an independent art critic, author and curator of note. She has an M.A. in Arts from New York University as well as from the Royal College of Art, London. Ms. Kapur has written and lectured extensively on contemporary Indian art and is the author of the book 'Contemporary Indian Artists'. She has been a Visiting Professor at the University of Delhi and at the School of Arts and Aesthetics, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. Ms. Kapur’s curatorial work includes exhibitions at the Royal Academy of Arts and the Tate Modern in London; she has served as a jury member at several International Art Exhibitions and is also a member of the Asian Art Council at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Recoginizing her contributions to the world of Art, the President of India awarded the Padma Shri to Ms. Geeta Kapur in 2009.

Ms. Ina Puri (Author, Columnist, Curator and Film Producer)

Ms. Puri began her career organising alternate theatre festivals and innovative exhibitions promoting little known artists in Kolkata. She pioneered various theater, film and music festivals, inviting renowned groups like the National School of Drama, IPTA and Prithvi Players.  Today, Ms. Puri is an award-winning film producer, art and music curator, author and columnist. Her definitive biography of the painter Manjit Bawa won her much acclaim, and Ms. Puri’s documentary, Meeting Manjit, won the prestigious Rajat Kamal award. She curated most of Manjit Bawa’s exhibitions across India and the world. Ms. Puri continues to work extensively with many leading Indian artists of today and is equally committed to the promotion of young artists.

Mr. Prayag Shukla (Art Curator, Critic & Poet)

Mr. Shukla is a poet, art critic and fiction writer. He has published nine poetry books, five collections of short stories, three novels, a book on art appreciation, Dekhna, and a book on Satyajit Roy, Ek Filmkaar kee Oonchai. He is the editor of the Hindi journal of the National School of Drama, Rang Prasang. Mr. Shukla has translated Bangla poets Jibananda Das and Shankh Ghosh, as well as Rabindranath Thakur’s Geetanjali into Hindi. He is the recipient of many national awards, including Sahitya Akademi’s translation prize, Dilli Akademi’s Kruti Award and Dwijdev Samman.

Mr. Kishore Singh (Art Critic & Writer)

Mr. Singh is a senior editor with the financial daily Business Standard, handling features and the Weekend section of the paper. In the past, he has edited magazines in the leisure and lifestyle space, and worked in publishing as well. Mr. Singh writes and edits books and script documentaries in his private time and designs homes for friends as a hobby. He has recently launched Wirefree Domain magazine under the Business Standard Ltd. banner. Mr. Singh is an arts and lifestyle opinion columnist and critic; additionally, he currently heads exhibitions and publications at Delhi Art Gallery.

Ms. Gayatri Sinha (Art Critic and Curator)

As a columnist with leading Indian newspapers, including The Indian Express, The Telegraph and The Hindu, Ms. Sinha has written extensively about language and artistic practice. She is an art critic as well as a curator.  Ms. Sinha has contributed to contemporary Indian art as a writer and editor with books such as ‘Art and Visual Culture in India 1857-2007’, ‘An Unreasoned Act of Being: Sculptures by Himmat Shah’, and her most recent publication in 2011, ‘Voices of Change: 20 Indian Artists’. Ms. Sinha’s work as a curator has developed around issues of gender and social concerns; she has also worked extensively with photography and new media.
